Magnet School

test

Some Dothan parents said they are concerned about students who are not making the grade in magnet schools.

Those schools provide specialized education and emphasize specific subject areas for kids.

Fifty students have so far been removed from Carver and Montana Magnet Schools because they weren't able to meet the grade requirements to remain in the two schools.

Magnet schools also require parents to be involved in at least 10 hours of school oriented activities with their children to help them succeed.

Dr. Kelley said losing some students was expected during the first year.

He said parents and students should have a better understanding of the requirements for staying in the magnet school program.
