Wiregrass Commons Mall Expansion

A four million dollar expansion project is underway at Wiregrass Commons Mall.

It will give Belk department store an additional 30-thousand square feet.

Belk's home store will be moving into the newly-remodeled store and Burlington Coat Factory will fill that space.

It's expected to open in early 2009.

Belk is still open during renovations.

The grand opening for their newly-designed store is set for October 15th.

Four million for the expansion of ONE store and the addition of Burlington??? I've been quite disappointed with Wiregrass Malls stores for some time now and tend to just stop at the new center with Target and other stores (some of which have moved from the mall) or go to Montgomery. You would think a four million dollar expansion would include more than one and a half stores.

Guess we know another created expense for the 1% tax increase eh folks? Dothan could not find enough need so they created a "want" for expansions?! We need more Hardees, Sonny's BBQ, Children's indoor inflatables playground, better schools, stricter fines for booming blasting music, state inspections on these run down vehicles that should not be on the roads....uh -- Alabama --- why?!
