Silicone Breast Implants

The Food and Drug Administration decision brings the company Inamed Corporation, a step closer to returning the implants to market years after they were banned.

The FDA told Inamed its gel-filled implants can be approved under certain conditions, but those conditions have not been made public.

Banned 13 years ago, silicone breast implants have been cleared of most serious health concerns.

Aside from the risk of breakage, however, they may cause infection and painful scar tissue.
