Coffee County Assisted Living

The Alabama Health Department has lost a court fight over whether it could shut down an assisted living home in Enterprise.

Coffee County Circuit Judge Gary MacAliley ruled Monday that the health department's decision to revoke the license for the assisted living home was "politically suspicious" and was "not supported by evidence."

The facility is run by former Republican Senator Dwight Adams. Adams said the decision is particularly rewarding because the judge is a Democrat.

Adams is from New Brockton and served in the state Senate from 1994 to 1998.

Health department officials said it's too early to determine whether or not the department will appeal the ruling.
