The Federal Emergency Management Agency has estimated about 2,500 people have come to the wiregrass for assistance following Hurricane Katrina.

So FEMA has opened a recovery center in Dothan Monday.

The center is located at the volunteer fire department on Highway 52 East, just outside Ross Clark Circle.

Several agencies will be present to provide service for evacuees ranging from the IRS to mitigation insurance representatives.

The FEMA Recovery Center's Manager, Bob Frettoloso says, "As people come in, we'll be able to bring up their account, straighten out anything that needs to be straightened, verify telephone numbers, routing numbers for checking account, if they haven't received information for housing...any information they need to know."

The center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day this week.

FEMA says they will remain in the area until they feel they are no longer needed.
