As residents of the Gulf Coast recover from the impact of Hurricane Katrina, the American Cancer Society continues offering assistance to cancer patients.
This includes those who have been transported to treatment facilities and shelters in nearby states, and also for those patients who are staying with friends and family members away from home.
Programs and services provided include locating treatment facilities, transportation to treatment and other medical assistance.
Those needing the services in the affected area should call 1-800-ACS-2345, where cancer information specialists are available to answer calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
