Doctor’s Memorial Hospital in Bonifay first opened its doors in 1958.
The administration says a new facility is essential in keeping patients "closer" to home. They wouldn't have to travel to Dothan, Panama City, or Tallahassee to receive specialized care.
Voters will decide on Oct. 18 whether to approve the construction loan.
Hospital officials say it's "not" a tax, and local taxpayers will not be responsible for the loan debt.
If people vote "yes," the new hospital will be built near the I-10 and HWY 79 exit.
