A local community received some rather large gifts this morning.
Abbeville received four live oak trees in part of their revitalization plan.
Three of the trees were planted on the east end of the courthouse and the fourth went on the west end, replacing the pecan tree that was damaged from the 2002 tornado.
Henry Co. Probate Judge JoAnn Smith says, “Anything we can do to just make the town look better and I certainly want the courthouse, as custodian of the courthouse you know, I don't want it to be left behind I want it to be cleaned up and look as good as it can.”
Town officials say the trees were another step in the right direction to beautifying the city.
