Dothan man accused of killing his girlfriend is getting an attorney appointed by the court.
36-year-old Lavon McCray had his initial court appearance on Friday afternoon. He is charged with capital murder in the death of 27-year-old Brandy Bachelder.
The Dothan woman's body was found in her mobile home earlier this week. She had been stabbed at least once, and investigators say she had apparently been dead a couple of days. Authorities also say McCray admitted forcing his way into the victim's home.
McCray is being held without bond in the Houston County jail.
