Jeffco Authorities Arrest Man on Identity Theft, Drug Charges

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - When Jefferson County authorities arrested a man accused of identity theft last night, they found a quarter kilogram of cocaine, a pistol and scales in his possession.

Sergeant Randy Christian said today that 25-year-old William Earl Moore has been under investigation for identity theft since his girlfriend, 27-year-old Shaneka Nicole Scott was arrested on similar charges in January.

Christian said Moore already faced drug trafficking charges when that investigation began.

Moore was being held at the county jail. There was no bond on the original drug charge. There is a $30,000 bond on additional trafficking charges filed after last night's arrest.

Christian said Moore faces charges of trafficking in stolen identities once the victim's identities are verified.
