A Crenshaw County judge says he will sentence mass murderer Westley Devon Harris on Friday.
A jury found Harris guilty of capital murder in June and recommended that he serve life in prison without parole.
However, Alabama Attorney General Troy King intervened and asked Circuit Judge Ed McFerrin to give Harris the death penalty. Harris was convicted in the August 2002 murders of six members of his former girlfriend's family at their home in Rutledge. The sentencing hearing is scheduled to begin at 3pm.
