The county attorney in Charles City, Iowa, says she believes the body of a girl found in the Cedar River last night is that of a five-year old missing since Friday.
Evelyn Miller went missing from her mother's apartment in Floyd, a farming community about 100 miles north of Des Moines.
The disappearance touched off a frantic search. Hundreds of volunteers took part.
County Attorney Marilyn Dettmer says an autopsy is planned.
The five-year-old's mother left Evelyn and her two younger children in the care of her fiancé when she went to her overnight job. When she came home, the door was open and the girl was gone.
Authorities say the fiancé has passed a lie-detector test.
