Suspect in Auburn Slaying Due in Court April 23

OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - A Lee County man suspected in last week's murder of Auburn University student Lauren Burk is due back in court April 23rd.

23-year-old Courtney Lockart of Smiths Station is scheduled to appear in Lee County district court for a preliminary hearing.

He's charged with capital murder during a robbery, capital murder during a kidnapping and capital murder during an attempted rape.

Authorities allege Lockhart murdered the 18-year-old freshman from Marietta, Georgia. Her body was found in a road near the Auburn campus on March 4th. Lockhart was arrested three days later.
