Wiregrass authorities conducted a roundup, and put some wanted suspects behind bars.
However, there are others who are still on the loose, and officials could use your help to find them.
The U.S. Marshal's Gulf Coast Regional Task Force, made up of members from the Houston County Sheriff's Office, the Henry County Sheriff's Office and the Dothan Police Department caught nine criminals in a fugitive round up. It’s an ongoing effort to stop crime and drugs in our communities.
Capt. Antonio Gonzalez, with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office said, “We were able to apprehend individuals ranging from the charges of attempted murder, to bigamy, to theft, by deception to possession of cocaine.”
Arrested in the roundup were Tyrone Brown for attempted murder, Walter Rich for rape, first degree and sodomy first degree and Edrick Jermaine Walker for violation of probation and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, crack cocaine.
Also arrested were Devon Jones for failure to register and a community notification act violation, Daniel Dean Benton for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, crack cocaine and John Grantham for breaking and entering. Mack Lewis was arrested for bigamy, Jimmy Williams for theft by deception and Joseph Benjamin Willis for failure to register as a sex offender.
“They'll do everything they can to elude by giving false names or just be hidden by family and friends,” Captain Gonzalez added. “It's an issue for the safety of the community.”
Authorities are still looking for three people: 19-year-old Jeffery Baxter for rape second degree, 35-year-old Donnie Joe Smith for rape second degree, and 32-year-old Ronnie Lee Cole for a violation of the Community Notification Act.
Authorities are hoping for help from the public to find these remaining individuals.
