Insurance Fraud

In a report, the Government Accountability Office says the military needs to protect servicemen and women who look for extra life insurance when they head to a war zone.

According to GAO investigators, such personnel are sometimes swindled by insurance agents. The agents try to get troops to buy unneeded coverage or to pay more than they should for the insurance
they wind up getting.

Members of Congress say it's wrong for military recruits to be pressured to buy overpriced insurance. And the lawmakers say it's
even worse when the people doing the pressuring are retired military officers. In the first year, the officers reportedly get commissions of up to fifty percent.
