WYLAM, AL - Bowling lanes and other entertainment will be available at an independent Christian center in six domes being connected to the church's seat worship area.
The 16.5 million dollar expansion at Faith Chapel Christian Center in Wylam could be completed by spring of 2007. Assistant pastor Debra Blaylock, executive director of the City of Deliverance Family Activities Center, says contractors for the 4,000 member congregation will begin site work next week. She says the domes will be places for church members and the community to enjoy, calling it "an alternative to the worldlyclubs."
The church's building, called the Word Dome, sits on a 37 acre
campus near Alabama 269. The new domes will include a 12 lane bowling alley; dance and game rooms; a smoke-free, alcohol-free nightclub for adults; a children's indoor playground; and a fitness center with basketball, skating, aerobics and a banquet facility.
One of the domes will be a lobby and assembly area. Near the
center of the domes will be a climbing tower, 70 to 80 feet tall, with a sphere that will serve as a lookout platform. It will be a landmark like a steeple.
