Trustees for the University of Alabama System and Auburn University voted today to raise tuition at all campuses. The hikes aren't nearly as big as last year's, however.
The increases range from 2-point-8 percent to 5 percent for in-state students at Alabama and are just over 4 percent at Auburn. That compares to increases ranging from 9 percent to 12 percent
University officials say the difference is a hefty increase in state appropriations for the upcoming school year.
Tuition and fees at Alabama's Tuscaloosa campus will go up 5 percent for in-state undergraduate students and 6-point-7 percent for out-of-state students. At Auburn's main campus, tuition and fees will rise 4-point-1 percent.
