Twenty-two-year-old Westley Devone Harris is accused of gunning down six members of his girlfriend's family on Aug. 26 at a rural residence in Rutledge.
Harris's court appointed attorney, Charlotte Tesmer, wants the judge to move the case because of pretrial publicity.
Another defense lawyer, Steve Townes, accused Crenshaw County District Attorney John Andrews of withholding evidence from their client. But Andrews said he's turned over all the evidence in the case.
Last month, Circuit Judge H. Edward McFerrin set a Jan. 6 trial date. Harris has pleaded innocent.
