A home in Columbia was heavily damaged by fire Thursday morning. The blaze on River Road was reported around 10 a.m.
Volunteer firefighters from Columbia, Webb and Haleburg responded. They found the second floor of the two-story structure engulfed in flames. No one was in the home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze to the second floor, but the rest of the house had smoke and water damage.
Fire officials said the blaze apparently started in an upstairs bedroom. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
