MOBILE, AL - Mississippi's Junior Miss Kelli Lynn Schutz won the final America's Junior Miss title.
Schutz, of Brandon, Mississippi, won the title last night at the Mobile Civic Center. She received $50,000 in cash scholarships, a
medallion to symbolize her achievement in the classroom and extracurricular activities and a bouquet of roses. Schutz says winning the title was "a little overwhelming."
Hope Lu of North Carolina was the first runner-up and winner of a $15,000 scholarship. Indiana's Katie RuthAnn Stam was named the second runner-up and received a $10,000 scholarship. Charlie Marie Sermon of Idaho and Anne Michael Langguth of Iowa, both finalists, each received a $1,500 scholarship.
The show wrapped up not only a two-week whirlwind of events,
appearances and activities, but also 48 years of Mobile history. After being dropped from major network television, the Junior Miss board said in May this year's pageant would be the last.
