The Ten Commandments monument will be staying in the Alabama Judicial Building, at least for now.
U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson Monday stayed an injunction he issued last week requiring Chief Justice Roy Moore to remove the 5,300 pound monument by Jan. 3.
Thompson said he issued the stay to give a federal appeals court time to review the case. Thompson ruled last month that the monument is unconstitutional and must be removed from the building.
Moore has said he installed the monument because he believes the commandments represent the moral foundation of law.
Moore is appealing Thompson's ruling to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
