People on Montgomery Highway won't forget who Christopher Jerrom Thomas was.
That's because Thomas was running from police June 29th when he was shot five times.
Thomas died instantly, but his car kept going, right into the wall of a business Josh Gulledge and a co-worker were in.
Gulledge said, “If it was four feet in front of me I would probably be dead right now.”
Gulledge wasn't hurt. But his co-worker wasn't as lucky.
Gulledge said, “He's doing much better no broken bones i don't know how it happened i don't know how he's doing that good but he's doing good his leg is just a little swollen i don't know how he's not doing worse.”
Gulledge isn't the only one looking for answers. The officer who fired the shots is now on administrative leave.
Chief Gregory Benton said, “We're doing everything we can for him with counseling.
Veshoen Edwards was right across the street. And even though he wasn't inside, he's still in shock
Edwards said, “It didn't feel real at first. It didn't feel right, just the incident and how it occurred, it was crazy.”
Edwards says he'll look both ways now before crossing any street nearby...literally.
Edwards said, “It keeps me cautious real cautious of my surroundings.”
Cautious, but hoping it never happens again.
