City Manager Mike West Contract Extended

The fate of the Dothan City Manager was decided Tuesday night at the city commission meeting.

After months of discussion commissioners finally voted on whether to give City Manager Mike West a new contract.

The vote ended 4 to 3 in favor of giving West a new deal.

Commissioners Seagle, Newsome, and Craig all voted against the contract as is.

"My point is and remains in all of this that anytime someone has a new contract someone needs to negotiate in good faith on both sides. I think the logical thing to do if we want Mr. West to have a new contract…is for our attorney sit down with his attorney to work out a new contract,” said Seagle.

Mike West will now remain as city manager for the next two years.

He has a base salary of more than 156,000 dollars a year.
