A Dothan man charged with capital murder in the death of his infant son goes on trial next week.
Tony Dent, 42, was declared competent to stand trial after a pre-trial hearing in August.
Investigators say Dent took five-month-old Christopher to a hospital in April of 2006, claiming the child had breathing problems.
The boy actually had suffered a brain injury and was taken to a Birmingham hospital, where he later died.
Authorities say Dent allegedly caused the injury by throwing his son against a couch.
If convicted Dent could face the death penalty.
