Wendy's Finger

Investigators say they know where a finger found in a bowl of Wendy's chili came from.

The police chief in San Jose, California, says an associate of Anna Ayala's husband had lost the finger in an industrial accident in December.

He declined to say who lost the finger, but he says investigators got the information from a Wendy's hotline, and that tests confirmed it.

Ayala claimed in March that she found the finger in the chili at a Wendy's restaurant in San Jose. She's jailed on grand larceny charges.

Starting Friday, Wendy's is giving away free Frostys in an attempt to lure back customers scared off by the finger claim. The promotion lasts through Sunday.
