Forty-nine-year-old Joseph Bundrick was supposed to stand trial Monday.
He was arrested in June at a Dothan restaurant where he thought he had set up a meeting with a 14-year-old girl. But the child's parents had become suspicious and contacted authorities.
Bundrick faced up to 20 years, but he pled guilty to soliciting a child on the Internet and received a 10-year sentence instead. He is eligible for probation and could avoid prison.
A hearing is set for Jan. 10 in Dothan.
Bundrick was employed as a Russell County Sheriff's Deputy but has since been fired.
