New Funding for Dothan Area Parks

Alabama Governor Bob Riley announced a $150, 000 grant to help spruce up Dothan parks. The city plans to use the money for Wiregrass and Westgate park improvements. City officials say they hope the upgrades will enhance family recreation, and address the growing demand for soccer.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs will administer the grant. It was made possibe through the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Dothan has committed to an additional $150,00 to help with the project.

This year, Governor Riley has announced more than 1.7 million dollars in LWCF projects in 18 cities within the state.
