Used Car Dealer Charged with Theft

A used car dealer from Enterprise has been arrested on theft charges.

Enterprise Police say Morris Rivers took several vehicles on a consignment basis.

He was supposed to sell an individual's car or truck and take a commission on the transaction.

But in some cases, Rivers allegedly kept all the money.

In one case, Rivers reportedly sold a $23,000 dollar automobile and never paid the owner.

Rivers closed his Rucker Boulevard car lot and the victims had trouble finding him.

He has been released from the Coffee County Jail on a $15,000 dollars bond.

I was going to sell my car on his lot. When I spoke to his sale reps they acted strange and i got a bad feeling. I left and never went back. I am sure that his employees were also involved, or at least aware of the situation, but allowed it to continue. I am sorry for all that got swindled, I hope eveyone gets their money back. I know I'd be at an extreme loss to have that expensive of an item just taken.

Mr Rivers sold a 2002 BMW 325i for my in August 2007 for $14,000 and a boat trailer for $500 he has not paid a penney yet and I am stuck in South Korea serving my Nation in the Army watching this event unfold. I was robbed of that car which represented my most valuable asset. I am feeling the impact of this man's lying and cheating business practices. When I left for Korea he gave me his word and I signed the agreement for the sale of my auto. The sale occured, the title was transfered. At first he continued to promise to pay me $14,500 but in December I lost all contact with him. I am attempting to get information about this situation from JAG at Ft Rucker and have filled out a complaint form with the AL Atorney General (which I have not heard from as of yet) I am seeking any further information pertaining to legal action concerning Mr Rivers.
