Dothan Manslaughter Case Goes to Grand Jury

A Houston County grand jury will decide if a Dothan man should stand trial for accidentally killing a teenage boy.

A preliminary hearing was held Friday for 22-year-old Joshua Jones.

He's charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of 15-year-old Daniel Wayne McKinnon.

The incident happened outside a Dothan home off Cottonwood Road earlier this month.

Police say Jones pointed what he thought was an unloaded gun at McKinnon and pulled the trigger.

Prosecutors contend Jones exhibited a reckless disregard for human life in the way he handled the weapon.

District Judge John Steensland bound the case over to a grand jury.

The panel could have a decision in the case later this month.
