There will be no babies born after March 31st at Mizell Memorial Hospital in Opp.
Financial restraints have caused the hospital board to close the facility's obstetrics unit.
Officials say the hospital would need 180 deliveries annually to justify the expense of staffing and maintaining obstetrics, instead fewer that 100 births per year.
Other departments at Mizell were subsidizing the financial losses.
In addition, indigent care and unpaid bills have caused the facility to look at cutbacks.
If they choose, the obstetrics unit, nurses will be given an opportunity to transfer to other departments at Mizell.
