A cruise company says one of its ships carrying gay and nudist passengers was temporarily stopped and prevented from entering the Caribbean country of St. Kitts and Nevis Wednesday.
Windjammer Barefoot Cruises says the ship is carrying 110 passengers. The Miami Beach-based company says the ship was stopped by authorities off the smaller island of Nevis early Wednesday morning.
The company says authorities from the islands told cruise ship employees that they had concerns about letting the ship in because it was a gay and nudist cruise.
The company says it is working with higher authorities to resolve the problem because that type of cruise has been there before.
An official at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority says gay cruises have come to the former British colony in the past.
