Pike County Commissioner Carpenter Passed Away

A Pike County commissioner nearing the end of his first term has passed away.

David Carpenter died suddenly on Wednesday. He had only one year left on his first term in office.

Carpenter had served the county as an extension agent for about 30 years before retiring in 2003.

The Pike County administrator called Carpenter a dedicated public servant.

Governor Bob Riley will have to determine who will fill his District 6 Commission seat.
