Opening Statements Made in Murder Trial

Opening arguments were heard Monday in Dothan for a man charged with murder in the alcohol-related traffic deaths of his wife, his son and another child.

34-year-old Kenneth McDaniel is also charged with assault for injuring his 14 year old step-daughter.

The wreck happened in June of 2006 on Highway 231, south of Dothan, when McDaniel allegedly drove his vehicle into the path of an on-coming 18-wheeler.

31-year-old Lisa McDaniel, 10-year-old Johnny McDaniel and nine-year-old Caleb Wise were killed.

14-year-old Nicole Sheffield was injured but survived.

Prosecutors contend McDaniel was intoxicated at the time of the mishap.

i am lisa mcdaiels aunt and i hope mr mcdaniel pays for what he did.she lived in hell with him and was going to get a dovorce from him.she never got that chance.he made sure of matter what the courts prove we know what her daughters has to go on without her.i hope he never gets a good nights sleep again.if there is a god in heaven please let him be found guilty.he told her if he could not have her no one would and made sure of that.we miss her every day she was an angel and little johnny was our little star.i hope no one has to feel the pain we feel everyday we spend with out them. i pray the system works this time. lisa and johnny will allways be miss. the sad thing is kenny still has his life and has been living it like nothing happened.i don't see how he can go on. our lifes will not be the same without them.
