Opening arguments were heard Monday in Dothan for a man charged with murder in the alcohol-related traffic deaths of his wife, his son and another child.
34-year-old Kenneth McDaniel is also charged with assault for injuring his 14 year old step-daughter.
The wreck happened in June of 2006 on Highway 231, south of Dothan, when McDaniel allegedly drove his vehicle into the path of an on-coming 18-wheeler.
31-year-old Lisa McDaniel, 10-year-old Johnny McDaniel and nine-year-old Caleb Wise were killed.
14-year-old Nicole Sheffield was injured but survived.
Prosecutors contend McDaniel was intoxicated at the time of the mishap.
