BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham police have identified one of two victims who were killed Sunday afternoon at a drag race in the Pratt City community.
According to Lt. Henry Irby, a police spokesman, 36-year-old Anthony Lett of Huntsville was shot at about 4:30 p.m. on Republic Circle.
The victim was reportedly shot when he attempted to assist an individual who was struck and killed while watching the race.
Lett was taken by private vehicle to University Hospital where he died.
Police have not identified the pedestrian.
Irby said in a statement that no arrests have been made in the city's 8th homicide of the year.
