Ford says it's recalling nearly 800,000 pickups and SUV's because they could catch fire.
The problem is with the cruise control switch, which could short circuit and cause a fire under the hood.
The recall covers 792,000 Ford F-150 pickups, Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators from the 2000 model year as well as 2001 model year F-Series Supercrew trucks.
Ford is sending letters to owners to have their dealers deactivate the cruise control switch at no cost. Once the company has enough replacement switches, it will send another letter telling owners to have the switches replaced.
Federal safety officials say they received 36 reports of fires, all of which happened when the vehicles were parked and the ignition was off.
