A former employee of the Dothan driver’s license office who admitted to embezzling money was sentenced.
53-year-old Janice Jackson pled guilty to theft of property charges last month.
Jackson worked at the driver’s license office in Dothan for 27 years before being fired in May.
She was indicted by a Houston County grand jury in June.
A state audit revealed more than 58,000 dollars in missing funds allegedly taken from the office between October 1st of 2005 and June of last year.
Jackson repaid the money when she pled guilty.
Friday, she was ordered to pay the 8,000 dollar auditing fee and pay the state the 4-percent interest that should have been collected on the stolen money.
Judge Larry Anderson also sentenced her to 1-year in community corrections.
