A convicted sex offender is back behind bars in Houston County.
Sheriff Lamar Glover said 38-year-old Jerry Averitte failed to register with his department as required by Alabama law.
The sheriff said Averitte was being questioned about a burglary case when he admitted to investigators he had been convicted of molesting a child in Georgia more than 15 years ago.
Averitte's bond has been set at $10,000.
