A rural Cleburne County mine shut down during World War II may one day prove lucrative for one retired businessman.
Prospectors met at a site near Cleburne County Road 24 this weekend to search for gold at King Mine where a few ounces of gold were once found before the place was shut down in 1941.
Don Soleman and his business partner are considering turning the site into a permanent business where the public can pay to mine for gold.
The mine is part of 300 acres that Soleman owns.
