Rewriting Alabama's 100-year-old constitution used to be a big topic in politics. Now, it's an issue that's been over-shadowed by education reform and campaign mud slinging.
Governor Don Siegelman blames the structure of the 1901 Constitution for causing propration 14 times in the last 50 years.
On Thursday, community members signed their names on a yellow school bus that's traveling the state in support of Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform.
The tour is an effort to fix the state's constitution and get support for Amendment One, which is on next Tuesday's ballot.
ACCR's director says Amendment One is a guarantee that Alabama residents will have the final say on rewriting the constitution.
Opponents say rewriting Alabama's constitution could raise taxes and legalize gambling without voter’s approval.
