Lamar McLeod has lived here on Acker Avenue for all his life and fears for his children's safety after hearing about Saturday’s incident.
"It’s hard because we got kids around here and stuff, you know what I'm sayin, and straight bullets don't have names."
Authorities were called out to Acker and King Avenue Saturday night regarding multiple gun shots.
"Our dispatch center received a 911 call from a man, reporting that a man was shot and lying in the yard."
Officials say 22 year old Richard Turner had been shot in the abdomen by 18 year old Lahmond Walls with an SKS assault rifle.
"There were a number of shots fired, somewhere between ten to fifteen shots that we have recovered from the scene."
Witnesses tell authorities there was an altercation at a local restaurant shortly before the shooting. However, they say they are not certain if the suspect was present at the time.
Neighbors in the area say incidents like this have been happening more frequently and are fearful of what may happen next.
"It's very scary because you don't know where the bullets going to land."
Lamar McLeod agrees with his fellow neighbor and is keeping a tight lock on his doors
Walls turned himself in yesterday and has been charged with murder and is currently in the dale county jail with no bond. Authorities say they have currently found no motive.
Officials have recovered all weapons that were used in the shooting.
