Alabama's homicide rate ranks third nationally and Birmingham is among the nation's deadliest cities.
According to new crime statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Alabama trails only Louisiana and Mississippi in homicides.
Overall, Alabama ranked 18th nationally in overall crime, 22nd in violent crime and 19th in property crime.
