The Southwest Park Committee decided on a piece of land Tuesday that will hold Dothan’s newest park.
The land is located near the dead end of South Gate Road into Campbellton Highway.
The decision came down to two, almost 90 acre plots of land.
Bidding between the two land owners ended up saving the city hundreds of thousands of dollars.
District 3 Commissioner Paul Lee said, "We, on purpose did not give any prices out; that's the only bargaining power that we had. It's very dangerous when you distinguish a piece of property and say that's the land you want, then you've lost your bargaining power.”
The location of the park will allow for two entering roadways. And, two of the ponds on the property could be open for fishing.
