Dothan City employees may be paid based on more than just their seniority in the future.
Tuesday at the city commission meeting, a motion to move to a merit-based pay raise system was approved.
Final plans are set to be presented to the city commission in October of 2008.
The new system will be designed to reward workers based on their accomplishments to ensure a more efficient and effective workforce.
If approved next October, the merit-based system would be implemented in January of 2009.
