Father Charged in Murder of 7-Month-Old Boy

OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - A young father is in jail, charged with capital murder in the beating death of his 7-month-old boy. Opelika police arrested 18-year-old Barry Lee Jones on Tuesday.

Police said his son, Kevin Christopher Jones, died Tuesday morning at East Alabama Medical Center. Authorities said the toddler suffered extensive injuries caused by sexual trauma.

The Opelika man also is charged with assault for beating his three-year-old stepdaughter. Authorities said the girl underwent surgery Tuesday for internal injuries and was listed in stable condition.

Jones was ordered held without bond.

it is amazing how the public reads a snippet of information and runs with it as a fact. what you don't know is the father took the children to the hospital for assistance. does that sound like a killer to you? all the facts in this case have not come to light and if the evidence proves he's guilty then so be it. what happened to innocent until proven guilty...the reality IS guilty until proven innocent.
