Police Department Vehicle Sale

The Coffee County Commission voted to sell two Sheriff's Department vehicles to a nearby community.

Sheriff Dave Sutton says each of the cars has well over 100,000 miles on the odometer.

The town of Level Plains will pay a total of 6,000 dollars for both.

In addition, the county commission agreed to place three other sheriff's vehicles on a government internet website.

It's hoped that the sale will help in the future purchase and maintained of the department's motor fleet.

Only $6000.00 for two high mileage police vehicles!! Now that is a real savings?? Maybe some one should check in to the possibility of a grant to help pay for a new police car. Vehicles with high mileage have probably seen their better days and maintenance cost to keep them up will only increase and in a relatively short period of time they will have to be replaced again. The Police need good dependable equipment the quality of used equipment should be brought into question.
