New Troy Airport Training Center Announced

The mayor of Troy along with city and state officials announced the creation of a Troy Airport training and operations center.

Mayor Jimmy Lunsford says he anticipates receiving two million dollars from the state for the new center that will allow local industries to train current and future employees in the area.

Sikorsky manufacturing started producing helicopters in Troy in 2004.

They have more than doubled their employees this year by adding 349 since January.

"It will be an asset to Sikorsky to deliver that many aircraft. We've got to continually train our existing workforce but we could also use the center for future employees and future expansion in the facility," says Jeff Railey.

Mayor Lunsford says he hopes the building of the new airport training and operation center will conclude before the end of next year.
