Jackson County Business Boycott

Former Marianna mayor and longtime NNACP chapter President Elmore Bryant says a boycott of businesses in Jackson County is under consideration.

Bryant, along with many in the civil rights' movement, remains furious with a Panama City jury's not guilty verdicts in the Martin Lee Anderson trial.

Nearly three-years-ago, 14-year-old Anderson died following an encounter with guards at the former Bay County Boot Camp.

Bryant is in contact with NNACP representatives in Bay County to determine the best course of action to draw attention to what they believe is racial injustice.

Bryant says next month he hopes to hold a community forum in Marianna concerning injustices in the legal system.

This Saturday, a planned civil rights march protesting the verdicts in the Martin Lee Anderson trial will take place in downtown Panama City.

Dear Sir, Martin Lee Anderson died in Januar 2006. This was nearly two years ago not three. Good luck for the boycott of businesses and what ever it takes to finally bring justice for Martin. The non guilty verdict is unbearable.
