Troopers Find 1,150 Pounds of Marijuana During Routine Inspection

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - State troopers discovered about 1,150 pounds of marijuana when they stopped a tractor trailer late Tuesday morning on Interstate 59 North.

Trooper David Richard said the truck's driver, 37-year-old Anthony Daralius Jones of Delray Beach, Florida, and the passenger, 44-year-old Claire Marie Garrett of Atlanta, Georgia, were both arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana.

Richard said the troopers had stopped the truck for a routine truck inspection under the federal motor carrier law. During the inspection for safety violations and load security, troopers found the drugs.
