The 9-year-old Geneva girl mauled by dogs on Saturday underwent her first surgery Tuesday.
Surgeons started the first round of reconstructive surgery on her neck.
Her father says they are using muscle from her shoulder to cover the wound which exposed her carotid artery.
Meanwhile the family is asking the public to keep Mariah in their prayers.
The Carver family says they hold no ill feelings toward the dogs' owners.
A fund has been set up to help with her medical expenses.
If you would like to help, one fund is set up at City Bank of Hartford.
You can call them at 1-800-435-2074.
