Tuesday morning, a tanker carrying thousands of gallons of gasoline spilled onto Highway 27 in Geneva after the driver lost control.
The Geneva County Courthouse was evacuated due to the large amount of fuel pooled in the street.
Of the five compartments in the tanker, one was drained into another tank.
The remaining four were drilled into using a nitrogen cutter, a device that cuts metal without sparks.
Officials believe nearly two thousand gallons of gas made it onto the roadway
A large part of the efforts were to keep gas out of the nearby Choctawhatchee River.
Clean up crews expect to have the remaining gasoline on the street removed some time this evening.
